POPULAR Summits continued:

More than a decade ago, several teachers and students were
injured at school by toxic fumes;

At least some of the resulting personal injury claims spawned a
widely publicized scandal involving judicial bribery and other legal
system corruption;

One of the complainants was instrumental in exposing all the
lawyers and judges involved;

Yet her case is under seal and she remains subject to a related
gag order.  No lawyer will challenge the situation;

The State has not revisited it as part of victim relief;

So corporate tortfeasors have gotten a free pass for causing
people (including children who are now adults) both temporary and
permanent, serious injuries;

These are circumstances to be studied.

  • How could such a thing happen?

  • What should be done to rectify the situation?

  • What protective measures should be instituted to avoid
    recurrences?
